tbh it's the way Martin just keeps glancing over and then when Lando starts his little dance he kind of mimics for me

sooooo this one has gotten away from me, so here is the start of what is shaping up to be a much longer fic about Martin and Lando's Koningsdag adventures:

Lando groans as another ping interrupts the quiet of his room, rolling over in bed to pat blindly across the empty space next to him.

Eventually his fingertips bump against the cold edge of his phone, another aggressive pat to the mattress has it slipping into his grasp. He slowly draws his hand backwards, curling back into the warmth of his covers and tucking the blanket over his shoulder even as he props himself up on an elbow.

After nearly blinding himself with the screen brightness, he cracks one eye open to a squint so that he can watch his thumb stumble while typing in his passcode when the Face ID refuses to recognise him. He clears down some notifications, swiping across at more than half of them.

Finally he gets to what he needs, makes a mental note to call his mum later, and then opens up his messages with Martin.

Lando blinks and then rubs clumsily at his eyes, dragging his hands down his face as he rolls over and puts very little effort into propping himself up against his pillows.

He does check his calendar, just to make sure he isn't mixing up his race weeks, but when that proves to be clear he texts Martin back.

Martin's reply is immediate and Lando's heart flutters in his chest.

we've seen Lando with Martin and his parents before, and most recently at the tennis before the Koningsdag celebrations, idk if Martin would've put them together or if they just wanted to hang out anyway while Martin was off being busy but it's cute either way 🥹
